Guessing it's the two having discussion. If was a actual fight, no way someone would be that close with a flintlock hand cannon against a sword person. It takes a few seconds for those things to fire, if they even fire correctly. Then you gota take time to reload those suckers, in which case they'd use multiples pre-loaded if in serious fight.
