He's very brusque and harsh in both speech and mannerisms, because he's learned that the only way to command any sort of respect is through being as direct and sugar-free as possible. He has only seconds to save a life after a tragedy, and never has time to explain. If he can't get his hands on a corpse within 30 seconds of their death, their soul is lost to the Dreamsleeve. Because of this, opinions on him are extremely split. Depending on where he is in Skyrim, he's either regarded as a local hero who saved some poor soul from an untimely tragedy, or a sinister (and rude) con-artist. He's come to understand that the easiest way to function in Skyrim is to attempt to make as few friends as possible. Most people simply disappoint him.
