A couple of months ago my depression dragged me to the lowest point I had ever been as a result of multiple setbacks and deaths in my life, almost to the point where I could have been in danger of myself. Being unemployed and understanding that I would have no real chance in a professional microbiology work setting, I had to focus on finding purpose to my life. I looked at the work I had been doing outside the furry community, mostly my pixel art and my hobbyist game development work, and the prospect of becoming a freelance pixel artist leaped out at me. Since then I've started taking my pixel art work more seriously and brought supplies I'd need like a drawing tablet and generally speaking practiced my pixel artwork in preparation for potentially opening commissions.
Here is an art I commissioned from Fennel Strawborzoi to illustrate this stage of my journey; the transition from microbiology to pixel art. Don't worry, I will still be keeping my scientist persona - This is mostly a change in course for myself in the real world.
