why thank you there! looking at it still I can't say I got the sense the characters blend-in all that well, part of the reason I drop off working on that project earlier on is because of that sense I didn't know how to mix the painting style and linework, I'm glad I'm at the point art-wise where I can paint though, since I really only started with linework and only did that for the longest time...
I'd only say that they are very small in the background and stick out by their isolation instead of being in groups maybe. Then colour wise, - but I'm not sure about that part - the brightest and lowest values should add up with the background. Other than that I'd just recommend to stick to reference images but you know to do that already very well :3
