Aww so sorry to hear that :/ Something I do is set up a google drive or dropbox folder on my desktop and have all of my projects there. That way if the computer kicks the bucket it's all saved on the cloud.

I just don't feel comfortable with cloud saves. Maybe I should use a simple external hard drive.

Ho my... I'm realy sorry Clair XwW.... damn I can't even imagin tev frustration you got especialy lose a so big and time consuming project..... Did the PC is full death or you still have the hard-disk of it ?? You could maybe found-nack your deleted file by using the siftware Dumpster than is a sodtware able to recover EVERYTHING you have delete frol your disk as much video than file and pics >÷<..

But still...the project semee reay nice so far... I realy feel sad for you and frustrated too it happened, you didn't desserved that XwX..... I'm realy sorry for everything and I hope it will not make you give up >÷< you are an amazing artist and animator so it will be a big lost for everyone here :(.

The thing with the drive is, that it is not easily accessible or changeable. I consulted a professional and he had no chance to reach it, physically and technically.

I see.. I'm realy sorry for you depite it sound strange the fixer told you that cause the Disk is, in heneral, the most easy-access component in a PC cause you are supposed can change it easily for take a bigger or even add an other disk next :(...

It's soldered on the motherboard, so not possible.

I'm really sorry to hear that, it's really infuriating and disheartening when this kind of stuff happens. As others have said, I hope there is a change to retrieve some data from your disk and all the work you put into this.

So sorry to hear that. I have a backup account with BackBlaze which costs $99 a year but the storage is huge and the peace of mind is worth it. My computer backs up constantly in the background.

As I mentioned above. I don't feel comfortable with that. An external drive would be better. On the other hand am I really lazy with that stuff.

There's a program called "crystal disk info" that shows you your hard drives health/information and will warn you if there's anything wrong with any of your drives. Its good to have to avoid any similar situation in the future

Do you still have the drive to restart these projects or is it something your likely leave in a closed case?
After all a good idea is still a good idea even if it only makes it back as still image!

For now I will leave it alone. Would be too frustrating to start again and working with a bad mood wouldn't bring a good result. I will do the lion one day. But for the next piece I have plans for a tiger already. Provided that I get my computer back one day...
