And now a story,,,,,



I once produced a demo CD for a Christian, A Cappella group. Three women all married with children, and even one on the way, were a very good singing group. They had obviously worked hard for several years now. Mostly singing at their church, where they had become popular enough to want to try to take their music to the next level.

So anyway they heard of my little studio and very cheap rates and we did in fact cut a 6 song CD of their best stuff. I mixed it down and gave them each a copy. A couple of days later another friend of theirs called me and said she had been asked by the girls to step in as a type of manager for them as they wanted to start promoting the act. So I cut them about 25 more CDs and gave them to their manager.

They came over to the house again and wanted some music advice on things. I showed them my collection of music industry books, and magazines with contact, resources and such. They were planning on trying to get on stage at a large Christian music event that would be showcasing unknown artist during the day and with the big headliners at night.
The event would have about 30 thousand people in attendance over the weekend so it was a pretty big deal.

I shrugged it off as I had heard all this before. I always support any music group’s efforts to make a go of it though regardless. I didn’t hear from them for quite a while until my phone rang about two weeks later.

It was their friend the manager. Apparently the demo CD was very well received. Not only did they get on the big stage to do their act, they got eagerly approached by several Christian music producers, A&R guys as well as a couple of Christian labels.

Basically the proposals and people proposing them were the most un-Christian people they had ever met. All three of the girls and the manager had decided they wanted no part of that world. So they quit.
