5MT 73096 waits to depart Alresford, Sept 11.

During September 2011 Standard 5 73096 was due to be withdrawn for overhaul. Over two weekends the loco put in a few last runs with passenger and freight duties.
At the time it was very unlikely the loco would steam on the Mid-Hants ever again due to the owner of the loco moving his engines off of the railway.
Fortunately in 2018 the loco was bought by the Mid-Hants Railway and is now back and waiting in the overhaul queue.
