Here is a pencil tray I've made from sheet steel. The sheet it self was part of a metal sign that my neighbor who gets scrap steel for me had. Some sort of railroad thing, probably. He works for them.
It was quite a spur of the moment sort of thing, really easy though, but the lay out took some time.
The edges of the tray are decorated with copper.
