Tho the conflict is long over.
The need for defensive ships & pilots is a necessity.
Mainly to combat pirates & raiders who drift in the wake of Station1.

The ships are a mix of both larger & smaller technologies.
Even though the macros were the first to discover long distance space travel. The micros were more technologically advanced.
Most, almost all pilots have onboard co-pilots to make sure all systems are still working.
Able to preform repairs on the fly.
