Vasila has been practicing magic and alchemy since she was 13, and that was over 370 years ago. The very things she learned back then have kept her looking far younger than she is, appearing no older than 50 despite being nearly four centuries old. She knows of the stories people tell about her and other witches like her, the people of Russia fearing her and calling her "Baba Yaga", and she uses these very stories to keep unwanted visitors away, particularly if they come bearing ill intentions. Wearing a frightening mask and swooping down from her chicken-legged house in her flying mortar, she puts on a fitting voice and begins cackling and shouting that the intruders will make a lovely meal, and although this just fuels the mistaken image of her, at least it ensures that the troublemakers won't try to mess with her again. Everyone else, however, she does her best to be kind to, but not so kind that they feel comfortable seeking her out regularly. Vasila also happens to be a longtime member of the Order Obscura, and she received news from the Order's British headquarters that her strength and magic are needed. There's a horrible threat to all of Earth's inhabitants arriving, and they want her to help out in the fight against it. Although she was hesitant to leave the safety of her home to get involved in such a matter, she knew that as a high-ranked Order member, she must do what she can, and so she will. Perhaps this could even be what finally softens people's opinion of the so-called "Baba Yaga".
