"Well Captain, it's sure good to see you again but I've gotta' say, the Republic colors are seriously gonna' take some getting used to. Do I have to call you sir, stand up straight, all that?"
"No, I'm still the same old Saladin you always knew."
"So you say. I guess we'll find out, won't we?"
WOW! HERE WE GO! A brand new look for Saladin, my marquis character and fursona! This design's been a while coming..! Initial design passes started in late 2020, and you might have seen hints of this outfit on a couple of commissions here and there, and some peeks of this reference sheet on my twitter! But here it is!!
"What happened to Sal, Kara?"
Around two years ago Sal's time, she was hit by an assassination attempt that cost her her entire right arm. She wasn't able to defend herself and she almost lost her life for the second time to this event - but her crew was there to back her up and save her life, killing her assailant. But after this, during recovery, Saladin was terrified. She'd gotten so comfortable freelancing that she didn't think anybody would actually try to hit her so hard - it'd been a long time since someone actually tried to cash in on her bounty that's worth millions. So... something had to give.
Saladin took her crew to The Republic and made a plea - that they'd sign onto the navy in trade for amnesty and official protection. It would, after all, be an act of war for a government employee or hired hitman with the intent to try and cash in on the bounty.
And so, Saladin spent the last two years working through her trauma, training, going through The Republic's courses and whatever else they'd asked, and managed to land a spot in the Republic Privateers - free agents who work under the explicit employee of The Republic and as such are extended their protections.
Her ship, The Steadfast, has been refit and repaired, and her crew is good and ready to go.
and it's very, very good to see her again.
Saladin has a new cybernetic arm that has a multitude of functions - notably, is has a plasma blade that is energy cell dependent. The blade can collapse into a plasma projector that can fire about 20 bolts before it needs to reload - which is what that socket on her arm is. It doesn't necessarily give her super strength or anything, it's just a more durable arm that she can detach. It attached to a mount - which the fabric shoulder protects from debris and obscures her scar.
The Orranian Naval Uniform is divided into four categories:
NAVAL: Blue
SCIENCE: White
ENLISTED: Grey
MARINE: Black
Saladin - as the captain of a ship and a pilot, uses a Pilot vest in the Orranian Naval blue.
