The famous Roosevelt Arch marking the north entrance to Yellowstone. it was built to signify the original entrance to Yellowstone to visitors who traveled across the country by trains and horse-drawn wagons. inscribed in the top of the arch reads "For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People," the left block reads "Yellowstone National Park," the right block reads "Created By Act Of Congress March 1, 1872." it is named after President Roosevelt after he laid the cornerstone for the arch while he was visiting during the first stage of construction.
