I have an entire project folder of Cubase files named Synth Musings 1 thru I think 12 at this point. Most are just little bit and pieces, nothing more than ideas that probably won't ever see their way into a final product. There are two exceptions, this being one of them. The other is simply Synth Musings 4, but I haven't rendered any incarnation of that, simply because the guitar is nothing more than me merely wanking around trying to get some Alex Lifeson stuff going on. Whether I succeeded or not, maybe maybe not, but that's what interpretations are all about. However, this isn't that song, so I'll stop talking about it.
This one kinda makes me laugh at the beginning, with the solo synth progression. The only thing I can think of when I hear it, is that it's supposed to go with some 1980s educational school video on space exploration. Some space shuttle effortlessly floating above Earth, or maybe docking at the International Space Station. Then the guitars kick in, and I don't think that anymore.
A lot of these Synth Musing songs include a Moog Taurus, because I am daftly in love with that synth. If I had the money to buy a real one I would, but that's why I'm basically building my own.
The guitars are more or less scratch tracks again for arrangement purposes. One of the guitars I have a particular change to the way I play the chords that I have in mind, but haven't got around to yet. I also have to re-record it on the fact that my guitar's intonation was way off, so some notes sound kinda sour.
This one abruptly ends too, because I hadn't come up with a bridge or solo part that wouldn't just be a verse or chorus repeating. I think I may have sometime after I rendered this, but I can't remember if I was satisfied with it. I'll more than likely revisit this at some point and complete, because even though the intro is kinda silly, it's nothing far from 80s cheesiness, which is good in it's own right. If I get Cubase working again maybe I'll render down what I've got for Synth Musings 4.
Until then, moving on.
