Strafing Scars, December 7th 1941, Hickham Field
Hickham field was also a target December 7th 1941 during the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. The Army Air Corps base was heavily damaged and to this day the strafing damage is readily visible all over the base.
This wall shows the pock marked hits from Japanese 7.7MM and 20MM caliber shells. The bigger holes being the 20MM hits.

Rather fitting that they left those unrepaired, in a way. Serves as a memorial as strong as any put up after the fact. Much like the pieces of the Berlin Wall, in a way - the echoes of that moment in history.
One of these days it'd be interesting to go to Hawaii to see all of this.
