This is a very, very old piece. I drew it like 3 years ago, and then completely forgot about it.... twice. Finally completed now, or like they say: better late than never.
There is sort of story behind this one, but I won't be diving into it here. These two are both my characters, and the game they're playing - for those who don't know - is called Go: an ancient Chinese / Japanese strategy game ("ishi" means "stones" in Japanese, the game is played with stones). In the story both of these guys are good players, but the dragon is.... well, let's just say nobody is better than him. So hence the manticore's evident despair. I guess size doesn't really matter, in Go.
_____________
A few technical details: painted with Ps over a pencil drawing. No references. Textures for the board and the marble floor from CG Textures.
The inscription in the upper left is in Japanese and can be translated relatively as "good luck" or "good game".
P.S. I did this for my brother.
