There are places that accumulate spiritual energy more than others. Places of sorrow tend to be the best; battle grounds, graveyards, ruins of towns raided, and so on. Rakant often chooses to visit battlegrounds to gather spiritual energy from the lingering dead, dismissing them from the mortal plane and taking their residual essence or absorbing a soul entirely depending on Rakant's mood. Sometimes the battlegrounds are littered with corpses that Rakant had a part in producing, these particular spirits are not happy to see the obsidian dragon; but Rakant cares little for their opinion, they are dead after all.
Energy gathered can be used for a multitude of enchantments, ranging from carts that move without horses, to crystals used for long distance communication. The imbued objects do not house an actual soul, so there is little risk of items being haunted or possessed. At worse, the enchanted items become prime targets for thieves to steal. Those thieves need to be extremely careful however.. or their essence will end up enchanting a torch at a local bath house.
Holy crap did
Silatria knock this commission out of the park! I'm so happy with how it came out, Rakant's clothing, his ethereal energy, the environment so fucking cool. Please, go give the artist some love, they deserve it. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/49059404/

Such a beautiful, severe yet even brutal art - the frozed dead lanscape and hundreds of swords burried into the icey ground and marking the final resting place of the warriors that perished in these desolate and cold place
The effects and sense of something dread and unnatural happening is very cool and breathtaking
And all this soul magic looks quite scary without doubt. Nobody wants to be stuck into some weird lamp or object
It even reminds me the Malazan Book of the Fallen in some ways

Such an utterly beautiful piece that really brings out the 'noble warrior' side of Rakant. He looks very handsome in his armor with that fur collar and flexible leather. Really further highlights the speedster bruiser style he has in combat, and of course Silatria did an amazing job with his anatomy.
