This is a Pseudechis porphyriacus, or Red-bellied Black Snake, an Australian species, that I have, naturally, never seen live. But I just liked the photo and tried to paint it, for practice again.
So, I like the way this turned out, one step closer to realism than the previous snake I painted, I think. The scales were a loads of pain to do, especially the reflections, but they were also an opportunity to try out a lot of new things in my technique. So I think it was more than worth it in the end. Well.... Hope you'll enjoy it!
