Purely speculative, but how many cars in this load do you think might still be on the road today?

By the admittedly low standards of the time, these Buicks... Regal, Century, LeSabre, and Electra... were a little more durable than average. That said, I doubt if any of them are still operating.

I remember what I was doing in 1979/'80 and it seems like an awful long time ago. I'd bought my first house; I was driving a '70 VW Beetle, and I was keeping bad folks out of one hellhole or another. I'm pretty sure that Bug is long gone. I know the '71 Plymouth Cricket I replaced it with only lasted until 1982 before it went to the boneyard.

Probably none. The Regal coupes got a following later in the 80s when GM was sending off their rear drive cars in a blaze of glorious tire smoke, but these 1980 models would have been malaise-era snoozes, a bit better than walking if you could afford the gas and the interest.

Oh, yeah. The whole time I was writing the comment the phrase 'Malaise-Era' was going around and around in my brain.
