Description:
Artemis the black overweight bear hailed from a longtime impoverished street of rundown apartments from Detroit. Having relied on a crime-ridden ursine gang through theft and bullying just to survive, he had earned enough money to move to Santo Tomas in California, just to live with his childhood friend Errol James Spenser. While EJ worked hard on fixing cars on his own, Artemis never had anything to make a living on his own. The fact that the bear was solely living in a low-income house with EJ and his twin sister could be detrimental to the Spenser's income. Doing nothing but lying on a couch, gorging on available snacks, watching TV, and playing games on a tablet, served no help to Artemis's case.

Of course, EJ had been aware of this, and so thought of finding Artemis a suitable job, but that black bear also happened to be indecisive, as he often hesitated on whether a certain job would benefit him on a short run. Artemis himself preferred short-term action with benefits that would keep him running, instead of long- term goals. However, EJ would never give up on his childhood friend.

One day, EJ found out about the MALAKAS Project through the TV advert and tried it out by himself for few months. Upon finding out what happened to EJ, Artemis sought to buy whatever he wanted behind the wolf's back, especially those that cost more beyond Lakes' normal pay, but the twin sister Jennifer proved to be equally strict with Artemis's paying habits. EJ eventually returned home in late December 2020, but as a Super Soldier.

Few days after New Year's Day, EJ decisively signed Artemis up for the MALAKAS Project, all behind the bear's back. Artemis eventually found out about it too late, as the blue wolf (named Simon Nightwolffe) had just arrived to forcibly pick the bear up. Naturally, he was upset and disapproving of this, but there was nothing he could do. Besides complaining and pouting, his experience in the mountain base was pretty much similar to that of an ordinary recruit. All of it, except one.

Artemis in the mountain base actually had no interest in body building, not even wanting muscles, as he actually had been indifferent since his gangster life in Detroit. However, he also found other recruits who were brought in in a similar fashion as the black bear was. Upon realizing they were indeed bullied by the dominant yet almost entirely hated gang, led by Dakota Cranberry the rhino Super Soldier, Artemis became more than determined and happy to form his own gang to challenge Cranberry.

The new gang, dubbed the Lake Gang, became known to everyone in the mountain base. While the higher-ups felt worried and a bit paranoid of having another opposing criminal gang, the superior Christopher North sought this as a balance to counter the Cranberry Gang and to put them in their place. While he was happy that he could directly outgrow the Cranberry Gang, Artemis was unfortunately brought back home on an honorable discharge. The bear was outright annoyed as he had no way to communicate with his new gang back there. Now he had to find a job as EJ demanded, so the bear chose to work in a local military outpost. Besides the official training requirement, EJ saw no problem with his friend's choice, not knowing there were actual opportunities there that could do in the Lakes' favor.

Meanwhile, tensions quickly rose between these two gangs, but two weeks after kicking the invasive beavers of Brisa Creek empire, the gang war was eventually triggerred, leaving both gangs injured, properties damaged, and other recruits nearly endangered. Consequently, whoever directly and honorably discharged the Lake gang's founder was immediately put under investigation, despite the affected's lack of knowledge about Artemis's shady activities.
