This weather will frighten some, but not our today's hero. For this character, the storm is like a lullaby, soothing :3

True fact! Not everybody gets frightened in the same way or from the same stuff. There are some rare cases where a courageous, lonely being shows a big courage and one strong personality. Storms seem to be very frequent around this area near the ocean, well this marine landscape became the favorite spot for a floofy wolf hero. The brave canine loves the stormy weather like we love jam and chocolate. Lightnings and thunders doesn't scare them in any way, heck no. They made of this area a relaxing spot where to just enjoy the moment and maybe take a small rest. Recharging themselves with the natural sounds and admiring the power of mother nature. Those dangerous waves to their eyes are like a fun show, what a wonder! ;D

thanks. it's quite interesting because i used to study weather systems quite a lot (non-artistically) as a bit of hobby.
when i was first introduced to the concept of cyclone and mesocyclone that was the first time i really realised clouds have a form and momentum that you can essentially virtualise in your head. thunderstorms in particular (supercells more-so) make the most spectacular clouds. convection is also an interesting subject with the studies of cyclones, bubbling and atmospheric heat transfer. i bet you can learn a lot by drawing from the patterns in shown sequentially in 3d weather simulations and also learn the physics :3 i think another thing is getting scale right, convection looks rougher in bigger or more violent clouds (like eruptions for example). pretty fascinating.

having the interest is good. it'll help you learn and make art even more enjoyable for you. in eastern philosophy art was used to learn the natural forces (the spirit resonance) have you heard of qi yun? da vinci cited this as the method in his sketchbooks and made a lot of studies on the patterns of water for example. these days we just call it physics and gesture but it's not just physics you're capturing a certain embodiment of how nature does it. so you need to combine the knowledge with actual studies and internalisation also for the best results. not sure where i read that, probably from joseph giland in his elemental magic books though he focuses more on a briefing and linear basis. mastering those inner workings in a way that captures life essence makes an artist a magician of sorts. artists who are confused by certain elements they make in a picture have less enthusiastic looking works tbh :3
