So I decided it would be useful to make a rough height chart for the characters of my comic (Most of them, while they haven't been introduced, will most likely eventually appear).
Alister and Edgar you most likely know about (and who are incidentally the shortest males in the comic). Some of the other characters I have a clearer idea about their personalities then others depending on how important they are to the strip and how long I've had the idea for them.
-Neema Jones- Spotted hyena, who is Edgar's girlfriend. Despite being from an extremely matriarchal culture, in which females are expected to be the strong, domineering presence. she is really meek, sensitive and non-confrontational. While she is an intelligent and compassionate individual, most of this is never really shown to a lot of people, since she's usually afraid of what other people will think about her. She has a certain amount of dependency issues and her self-confidence and self-perception can hang on the opinions of others. In terms of a relationship with Edgar, they kind of complement each other. Neema has helped Edgar (without knowing it) move on a bit more from a difficult past relationship and has tried to help him soften up and be less judgmental. Edgar, on the other hand, tries to get Neema to be less clingy and be more independent.
-Mr. Bonassus- Alister and Edgar's employer. He's an alien called a Torean. He comes from a culture in which emotions are highly suppressed, and if anyone openly expresses their emotions, they are seen as having ill self-control. Perceived emotional neutrality and objectivity is prized in his culture. Coming from this cultural background, he regards Earthlings somewhat in disdain by the fact that they are so emotional. Ironically, at the same time he knows he needs to adapt to this culture if he wants to get any business he must express himself more. Also, adapting to the concept of being kind and respectful to those whom you don't even like. In Torean culture, if you don't like someone you don't do anything good for them or show any respect towards them, as that would be deceiving them into the false idea that you might actually like them. In that culture, affection is shown through mutual respect and kindness. In terms of business, while he treats his employees fairly, he has no qualms about over-charging customers and embellishing stories about where his products came from. So he's not the most honest individual to deal with.
On Earth he runs a business selling curiosities and novelties from other planets. He's hired Alister and Edgar as assistants in this job.
-Natalia "N" Miller- Female human who is Alister's good friend. Both of them share an unbridled passion for mechanics and robotics. She's also an enthusiastic, smart and highly ambitious woman, wanting one day to start her own business of designing and creating robots. She's also one of those people who will talk endlessly about every intricate detail about what she loves, whether they want to hear about it or not. One of her problems is that she also has a tendency to be loyal to a fault towards other people. If she is someone else's friend, she will blind herself to their mistakes, never criticize them, and will constantly defend them in every decision they make, even if it's clearly a bad decision. She can also be a highly competitive person and likes challenging people in doing everything. Most of the time she does this simply out of a sense of fun.
-Aurora Bell Smith- goat neighbor to Alister and Edgar. She is a very open and terrifyingly honest person. She is also an avid activist in terms of social justice issues. She has various motivations for doing this, part of this she does out of genuine good intentions and the desire to honestly help others. Another intention, though, is a partial sense of guilt over the fact that she came from a well-off and rather sheltered background. Occasionally she will get emotionally invested in an issue that is overhyped and she doesn't know much about, but can be easily swept up in the hype. Still, despite this she tries to keep as informed as she can, for the most part. She does do a lot of charitable work, as well.
Again, she is a very honest and blunt person. Most of the time she will express her opinion and does not have much regard for the sensitivities of others.
-Cornelius Abban Nolan- Male human who will occasionally also act as Mr. Bonassus (and thus to a certain extent, Alister and Edgar's) employer. He was born to an obscenely wealthy family who were a fashion design industry. He was also born during a fad in the celebrity elite world when having babies was the "in" thing to do. As such, when he was born his parents weren't really prepared for the responsibility of having a child and he was often in the care of various nannies who were just there to make sure he didn't hurt himself. Also since his parents were constantly busy, they just gave him things to replace their affections. He grew up spoiled and with a sense of entitlement in a famous elite. He has now inherited the fashion industry and is famous for simply being famous. Since no one is a position to tell him "no", either, he simply goes around doing mostly what he wants, which is mostly various sexual escapades. He's a terrible horndog. Most of his world is centered around a selfish whirlwind of wealth, sex, and drugs, and for the most part he doesn't care if people get hurt in the process. Occasionally he will get a hint of self-doubt by a moral conscience buried deep in the recesses of his mind, but usually he's told by yesmen not to worry about it.
Will sometimes hire out Mr. Bonassus to retrieve some special, rare item he wants for his collection.
-Germaine Moureau- an elderly female black rat who has been hired by Mr. Bonassus as a nurse of sorts, for when they go to various other planets to retrieve merchandise. She develops a fondness of Alister and Edgar as they remind her of her sons, both of whom have died as young adults. She's an extremely maternal individual who will, for the most part, force her motherly and doting ways on individuals, whether they want it or not. Yet at the same time, she also carries the attitude of "I don't have to be nice or pleasant to you if I don't want to, because I'm an old woman." Most of the time, this involves chiding people about what they do and ignoring their protests.
-Father Benedikte Popescu- the priest of Alister and Edgar's church. He's an extremely austere individual who leans more on the theology of the church and the imagery of the suffering Christ, rather then the emotionally upbeat approach of other churches. He's also extremely knowledgeable about his religion and various other religions. He does have a tendency to be emotionally distant, though, and while he can objectively dispense advice to his church members, he has a difficulty actually comforting them in anyway.
And that's all that I have so far for the supporting cast.
Also heights. Mr. Bonassus is terrifyingly tall.
