Ok, so, I've only told like 4 people about this, but I'm starting something new. I still have an hour for lunch at work every day, and I don't ever go anywhere. Basically what that boils down to, is that I have an hour every day that I'm forced not to work. I figured that I could be productive and maybe teach myself how to draw. So, I'm going to use that time at work to draw Pokemon.
Why Pokemon you ask? Because there are reference pictures a plenty on the internets, and their designs are generally pretty simple, so I think they're good to start on.
Anyway, I'm starting a project so to speak where I try to draw the Pokemon chibified. I've always loved chibi things and I've never tried it out for myself. I'm going to try to be creative with different poses and such to make them all as cute and diversified as I can so that I can get practice with different poses and angles. I'll be drawing each one with pencil on paper while I'm sitting at my desk. After that, I ink it, and then I scan it to the computer where I'll work on digitally coloring it. Ideally, I'll get better and faster at sketching and coloring as I work through the list, and I'll learn techniques along the way and hopefully become adept with GIMP which is what I'm using.
I should really learn to stop rambling whenever I submit something >.>
Big thanks to
argonvile for helping me with some GIMP questions and giving me some tips.
Enjoy ^^
P.S. I'm revising my NaNoWriMo right now, so hopefully it won't be too long before I start releasing those chapters. Thank you for your patience! =D

It's actually pretty cute. :3 I think it sounds like a good idea! Practice is the way to become better at things, after all, and it sounds like you've got some time for it. :3 By forcing yourself to draw again and again, you'll continue to improve.
Might I also recommend finding a Pokemon that you want to get very good at drawing? Since each Pokemon's body shape is pretty different, you might not learn about drawing anatomy or getting it down quite as well as if you were to take one Pokemon and practice drawing it in several different poses. Otherwise a lot of it is a matter of just copying what you see, whereas to become a great artist, you need to be able to think of the same thing (the visual component) but in a different pose (the creative component).
You can do that on the side as well, too, and I still think it's a great idea to draw a bunch of Pokemon in a chibi style. :3 Just my two cents! Looking forward to seeing more, plus your NaNoWriMo story. |3

Yeah; I will definitely plan to draw the ones that I like more often. I'm mainly going through all of them so that I can get faster and better at sketching them out, and then with a bunch of sketches, I can practice my coloring. I think coloring is the part that I like the most about all of this so far. Hopefully I'll be able to continue this as long as I can. I finished Venusaur yesterday and to be honest he's pretty terrible ^^' I'm hoping that he'll look less atrocious when I color him though =b
Thank you for the kind words and the favorite =3
Hope to catch you online soon.
