My OC Trandoshan "dark" Jedi character from a West End Games tabletop campaign set in the era leading up to the Clone Wars. Lineart by the talented
Marauder6272 and coloring done by friend without FA account.
The khyber crystal core of his weapon was claimed from Ilum during the traditional youngling trial "The Gathering" however the crystal that called to him was not native to that icy world but had been left there hundreds of years prior when a Sith weapon with a Korriban khyber crystal core was destroyed there in battle and left to be buried in the ice, thus its highly unusual color for a Jedi's bonded weapon. That it was this crystal that had called to him, combined with concerns over his Trandoshan nature beginning to express itself more fully as he grew older had the Order on the precipice of stripping him of title and expelling him from the Order.
Then, the veil of the Dark Side clouded the Force... the events of the Battle of Naboo changed everything and Thressk was allowed his Knight's trial.

"Upon receiving my Knighthood I was entrusted by the Order with one Task. The Order Survives, barring no cost. To these ends I have studied the ancient texts and the holocrons of Tython. The Jedi have not always been as they are now. Ever changing they have been. To think in your Hubris that this current state is perfection and that it should endure has prevented you from advancing, and thus you have become the Prey of Time, and Time will make you History."

"This is where the Sith were correct in their application of law, if not morals. They made themselves the highest moral and legal authority within their realm. As such, the Empire reflected the desires and goals of the Sith. Not so with the Jedi. In a misguided show of faith in others they allowed themselves to become tools of a corrupt and greedy Senate, and thus bound themselves to immorality in the name of democracy."

"As we know, the Force exists between and within all living beings, sentient or animal. The actions of an animal in pursuit of survival are neither light nor dark...they simply are, even in the cases where animals have developed the ability to manipulate the Force to better their chances of survival.
As a Trandoshan, I find this very illuminating, as we are Hunters as a people and though I have been removed from my culture the call of the Hunt still sings in my veins. What I am and what that makes me cannot be denied; there is no Ignorance - there is knowledge. I am forced to admit that I cannot be true both to what I am and to the ideal that the Order holds up as an example, but what I can do is come to understand why this is. Why is it that certain numbers of my people are granted this gift, but are ill suited to using it in ways that are widely accepted by those who are recognized as the Masters of it?
My first conclusion is that we are not meant to be Jedi at all, at least not as they are now codified. This is a disheartening conclusion and I am sure there would be no shortage of Masters who would agree with it, past and present.
My second conclusion is one with more hope, and the one that I choose to believe. We *may* be Jedi, but of a different strain of belief, one suited to our own strengths and acceptances, something more closely resembling the dynamic and adaptable Order of old.
I am convinced that this is what we need, both Jedi like myself and the Order at large. The first for a sense of stability, acceptance and belonging...the second to be reminded of what they once were and capable of, a dynamic influence against self-imposed stagnation."

The Ruusan Reformation. I spit those words upon the ground as I would an offensive venom. Those three words have damned the Order I love and serve. How you all cannot see what is plain and clear to me is something that drives me to constant frustration. Once the Order shined as a beacon, of hope and freedom and one-ness with the Will of the Force among the Stars. That light has been dimmed or in many cases, wholly put out by a veil we allowed and helped to place over the Beacon of our Truths.
How can you not see that it was the Reformation that has damned us? No, I lament not for our lost ancient lordly titles, nor our vast fleets of warships, nor even for the armor and armaments that once were ours. All of these things were used in service to the Will of the Force.
The Order is widely believed to have saved the Republic in those dark times, and the Republic returned the favor by casting a yoke over us all, tearing us away from the Will of the Force so that we could be molded into obedient servants of the Senate.
The Senate. The very phrase brings up bile from both of my stomachs as well as my gizzard at the mention of it. Not because of what it is, but what it has allowed itself to become. We are told that it is democracy, when it is merely corrupt oligarchy that gives the people no choice but to continue to empower those that abuse and enslave them.
The people are not blind to this truth...and so why are we blind to it? Is it because you feel fear at what accepting this truth may mean? That fear is well founded, for we all have been forcibly blinded to the evils and excess of this institution because they hold power over us simply by act of declaration.
I say 'No more.' I say that the time has come for the Senate's absolute power over us to be rejected, and if Coruscant may no longer be our home, than so be it. Residence on this City Jewel Planet is far too cheap a reward in exchange for our very freedom and our purpose as emodiments of the Force, brought into being to safeguard and enact Its Will. Were I to dictate terms, we would depart immediately with all of our resources and all of our heritage, to disperse amongst the stars and found *new* Temples, where we would welcome all who seek our enlightenment, not just those the Senate allows us to take.
The poison of the Reformation must be drawn out from our veins. Everything I do from this moment forward is with that acknowledged truth in mind.
