[Edit: 01/08/11] Color version now posted.
koopacooper's 'Roxy', previously seen slogging through a bog for a commission pic, must've gotten a thrill out of the experience, because she's also joined the Mud Scouts.
I penciled this one up on the heels of Nova's pic since I've already drawn Roxy (having adapted her neko form to a fully anthropomorphisized vixen), and figured I didn't have to do any radical re-working of her design. Well, I wound up having to futz with her head for awhile, (her jawline didn't look right), and most of her anatomy was "off". I renovated the pencils from top to bottom, also fixing her stance to eliminate much of the stiffness of the original version. All in all, the only part of her that didn't get re-drawn was her left leg.
Both this pic and Nova will be inked and colored together since the color selection for both pics will be more or less the same.

Late last night (I mean like 2-3am), I put on my flip-flops (adidas poolside sandals) and went out in our garden. It's really badly kept at the best of times, and is a cross between various small weeds, the odd bit of grass poking out, thorny bramble branches criss-crossing everything else, and a few really good patches of exposed mud around the back edges. It'd been raining heavily all day long and was in fact still raining when I stepped in the mud.
It was actually really easy to walk in to begin with, but that's because my feet were nice and dry, even if only in flip-flops. So I kicked them off and rubbed my soles in the wet grass (mindful of thorns all the while), then slid the sandals back on - now threatening to slip off with just about every other step. Much better. I found the muddiest patch down in one corner and stepped in it, feeling the sandal sink a tiny bit. But not enough to make much diff. It doesn't get churned up much, so the wetness was only the top few millimeters. So I dug into the mud with toes, and stepped back. Right onto a inch-high ramp of mud.
WHOA! Not soft enough to sink into, but certainly enough to slide on. Suddenly I was slipping about like nobody's business, wheeling my arms and legs about to avoid falling back onto a thick thorny branch right behind me, and to avoid face-planting on the concrete path directly before me. It took me a good 3 minutes before I regained my balance (and my sandals, which slipped off in this intentional comedy pratfall, in spite of which I never fell over!), and stumble back into the warm and dry.
Memo to self; needs a LOT more rain before it'll be soft enough to sink in. Been pretty well all today too though, I might try it again tonight. (I still haven't washed off the sandals from last night. XD)
