mega KOT#6737 had a contest to draw their polybre character. There were a ton of awesome submission, and I wound up winning. As a prize I got a commission from them, so I chose the Regal Feline :) They did such a good job, I love it.

This image actually went viral on my twitter, and got like 2.5k likes. Despite posting a selection of my entire work history there, this is the first image I've posted there to get significant attention (the 2nd most popular is around 100 likes, a Transformice character kind of insinuating they're gonna fuck their Sylveon). I find it super weird since this isn't really one of my favorite pieces; there's tons of things I've done that I think are way better. Although, I did use the knowledge I got from my Light and Shade textbook to make it more realistic. I'm not used to the attention and it got a few interesting comments. Maybe I was, regrettably, a drop resentful too; new eyes from virality felt like "oh so now after all these years you care", kind of a different vibe than the slow-drip of extremely kind people who've engaged with my work over the years. Regardless, it was exciting because I've wanted recognition for a long while now, but besides getting to see a big number on one of my works it didn't really affect my life as much as I thought it would haha.
I feel like I've been more on Twitter than FA lately, the fact I can post work with a single click is extremely convenient. And it also has a larger userbase, so perhaps people who like abstracter art but aren't as familiar with furry things can find my stuff too. But it's also a fucking hellscape sometimes lmao.

There's always that internet factor of "some things blow up, some don't, it depends on who shares it with who", but honestly even with that I can't say I'm surprised it would be so well received. It's eye-catching, it's of a character many recognize and like (Eevee and eons especially so with Pokemon), and thus has a high sharing potential to go from timeline to timeline. Makes sense to me.
This is really nice, and well done. I can see why it might gain popularity.
But Twitter is it's own thing, and problematic for a myriad of reasons, not the least of which being that it's an awful place for art. It can definitely be a good place to share with other artists, and occasionally for something to blow up, but that's what it's designed for. It's not designed for art.
Personally, I decided a long time ago that I'd never sign up there, and I'm more happy with that decision all the time. It's a stupid game to get into, and wonderful artists like you just get ground up by the algorithm(s) and the pressure to be constantly posting.
