As far as playing on size goes, the difference between Calderin as a kobold and Isera as a naga is significant. This also meant Isera had absolute control physically with them both polymorphed. However, it only made Isera adore him even further, and would have him coiled up by her body and pampered with her advantage of four arms. Even if he would squeak at first, he'd be a purring, limp, happy kobold not long after. It was what had her keep doing it whenever possible.
