John didn't know he was eating in his sleep which contributes why his pajamas feel very tight. When he realizes this after his parents informed him about what he was doing, the buttons on his shirt couldn't contain his belly any longer as they all popped off with his belly showing how much he had eaten but John is rather content with how big he has gotten.
This is taken from one of my stories as well as being a parody to A Glass of Warm Ed, an episode of one my favorites from Ed, Edd n Eddy.
