RIP Queen Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II passed away after over 70 years on the crown. For most people, she's been THE Queen of England. Literally all their lives. her legacy is immense, literally growing up during the Blitz of London in 1940, served as a truck driver towards the end of WW2. When her father, King George VI died in 1952, she took over and was a completely different monarch that her father and even great Grandmother , Queen Victoria.
Plus she was also part of the 'salt of the earth' and quite happy doing mundane things that one wouldn't expect from a royal. She loved her equestrian events, even taking part on competitions on a competitive role. Plus she loved tooling about in her Leyland Rover, with her beloved Corgis with her. She also was the spine of the family as the royal watchers called "The Firm".
Plus she was also had a great sense of humor. And was known for her laughter being heard throughout the palace. But the one thing that stands out with me, was during the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics. Where Daniel Craig, dressed as James Bond 007, enters Buckingham Palace and the Queen is escorted by 007 and her corgis to an awaiting helicopter. There they fly over the various landmarks of London and the Queen then parachutes from the helicopter (Obviously a stunt double) over Olympic stadium. And a few minutes later showing up at the podium and opened the ceremonies, much to the cheer and delight of the audience.

Plus she recently did a short with a CGI'd Paddington Bear sharing a sandwich.
Plus she also seriously loved her armed forces, and every September 15th, Battle of Britain day when the RAF flew original WW2 Hurricane , Spitfire fighters escorting a Lancaster bomber as it would fly over Buckingham and drop poppies over the castle. She had the widest smile watching the aircraft fly overhead.
Rest in peace Ma'am. You certainly earned it.

Scared a Saudi visiting king with her love of speed in her Range Rover on a narrow curve. That Little Ol' Lady from Buckingham Palace going turbo behind the wheel. https://www.motorbiscuit.com/know-q.....and-rover-fan/
Well, Saudi Arabia at the time (and perhaps even today) makes it illegal for women to drive. So after the Saudi king got in, he got his first surprise when the Queen took the wheel. And to show him how WELL a woman can control a vehicle, she took him on Mister Toad's Wild Ride.
I think it's clear who was the bigger badass among monarchs that day.

I remember when she visited America during the elder Bush administration. When she spoke in Washington DC the podium was set up for Bush who was Over 6’ tall if I remember correctly. When Elisabeth stepped up to talk, all the cameras caught was her hat. The talking hat was all the media would talk about for weeks. Then she came to Houston and won us rednecks over with her trip to Antioch Missionary Baptist in down town Houston. The worship service was loud and boisterous as you would expect from an old line Southern Gospel service. And there she was in the front row of pews clapping in time with the music even though she was raised in a more reserve religious environment. The head of the church of England singing along as If she had been going to a gospel church all her life. She was a great lady and a fine head of state, seeing Briton's transition from and old world empire to a modern day commonwealth.
Queen Elizabeth II was one thing only to my dad's family, whom were citizens of Scotland at the time of her greatest achievements. She was the first ruling British monarch, via the collective effort of those great deeds, to finally drive away the looming dark shadow of "Mad King George's" legacy. That man nearly destroyed the great British empire, with his irrational militant obsessions.
Yes, this statement will be seen appearing elsewhere, because it really needs to be said in honor of this great woman.

96 is a damn good run and she was mentally sharp until the very end, but yes -- us Brits thought she'd be around forever!
She was far better at the ''job' than I fear her son and grandson are going to be, but they seem reasonable folks and I do wish them success, if only because I'm not keen on the UK starting to elect presidents anytime soon.
R.I.P. HRH QEII.

She was pretty bad ass and epic.
It was sad news hearing she had passed away. Though she lived a very long and memorable life, I sincerely hope her family will be alright after losing such a beloved family member.
I watched last night as they gave her a 96 gun salute. Every branch of the army firing off cannons of different calibers and sizes in her honor.
God save the queen

Your memorums are always wonderful. You make it looks so easy to draw these celebs.
I'm a closet royalist, been fascinated by the Royal family for a while. So It's very surreal knowing she's gone. It almost feels like going to Disneyland and being told Mickey Mouse was no longer the main mascot.
She was that much of an icon in every aspect of our culture.
No matter what your view is of the Queen, you can't deny her devotion to duty. Gotta commend that.
King Charles has some very big hand bags to fill.
It's sad though, his reign is likely to be quite short. He'd be lucky to make through to the age of 100's
Any ways, fine work as always.

Simpsons predict the death of queen of england elizabeth in 2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS10G6q3Ca8
I had a comic strip planned in case of her death. I expected it to happen sometime during my lifetime. I remember hearing on the car radio what she was hospitalized. I was "meh, it's happened before". When I got home, I relized the seriousness and made the comic in a hurry.
