A little piece I did to commemorate the astrobiology announcement NASA made on December 2nd 2010. If you don't know what it's all about, look here or just do a google search.

I also tried focusing some more on line quality this time around, so feel free to comment on that.

Yeah, we pretty much heard about this over here in California as soon as the discovery was made. I've been to that lake myself. It's such an unusual, alien-like environment that I'm not surprised something amazing like this has sprung up.

Ok, maybe I'm surprised, but still~

I was looking at a lotta reference photos of the lake for this, and yeah, just at a glance that place looks like some weird primordial spawning pool or some such thing. Really eerie, but therefore really amazing too.

Ah yeah, glad those look good. While its never really been a big focus of mine, I wanted to try making some really thick weighty lineart for this drawing, and I'm pretty pleased with the results.

I don't know what one line quality is, but I think the picture looks pretty durn neat. It feels like it's got just a much more toony--though that word just feels incorrect--feel than your usual stuff. Either way, pretty neat.

And kinda gay with the hand there.

Just sayin'.

Prolly seems a lot more toony because of the sharply defined lineart on the solidly colored character, set on top of a painterly looking background. Come to think of it, that gives it a very cartoon-like look.

Also, thats the joke.

When I saw the new add, they said that nasa had found alien life :P I was super excited for a moment, but then realized it wasn't actually alien :P but this is still a major discovery :D yum yum arsenic ^^
