To celebrate getting my ability to draw back after having back-to-back eye strain and then an eye infection, I painted two pieces. "The Wood Burns Thus Burns The Forest Prince" was number 2 of 2, and the first one is still a surprise for my humblewood party. They haven't seen it yet, but when they do, it'll be posted here too!
Here I put a couple detail shots I really love from Thus Burns. I had a lot of fun rendering the sort of quilting on his jack, though, it's a little bit of a wider cast than it really ought to be for a fully historically accurate jack of plates. That's what happens when you don't want to take time to study references in the middle of an art fugue, people! I also really adore the ghost edge and the light playing on the sword, and the highlight work around Reive's face, so now you get to look at it again.
