Plans for how I think I'm gonna make my dragon mask.. This way I can make it look about as close to my drawings as I can get it..
.. Where would one get plaster of paris? (the stuff you make casts with..)

What i did was, i took the masking stuff to my face. Or well a friend did. Basicaly its these strips of thin cloth, thats covered in dry plaster, you wet it, and apply. Makes it very simple to add plaster to stuff.
Anyways, after you do this, then take some carboard and cuz out sort of an x shaped with varrying lenghts on each sides, fold it and make it into a sorta muzzle. Tape it onto the plaster mask that is your face and apply moreplaster strips. Afterwards, then apply more carbboard and plaster to fine out the details. Then smooth it all out and paint it.
Well thats to make a plaster mask. You could probly do the same thing without adding to much plaster by using fabric. Just use he plaster to make a mold of your head, then the carboard to make the muzzle, and a bit of plaster to hold the card board in place. Then super duper glue the fabric to the outside. (But that will require you to cut the fabric in just the right way to fit over the mask.

Oh and lastly, the lighter masks that you generaly see people wear, are actually made out of this metal fence thingy that they bend into a shape similar to the head, and then put the cloth over the metal frame to make the head. And cloth inside to make it comfortable.
A plaster mask will be heavy. And breakable.

thanks for all the suggestions!
the metal stuff is chickenwire. I dont want a hot mask, so i dont mind the extra weight if it means i dont need to be constantly hydrated (and constantly going to the bathroom!)
I'm planning on covering the mask with fabric when its done, but that's just how i think im gonna make it. The plan is that the mask itself is only going over about half of my face, so that i can breathe through the neck part, thereby making it look more like the character (too many furs have no necks!)
