Bio:
Born to Gaelic-speaking parents on the Isle of Lewis, Moiré lived a normal life until an incident when she was 15. A tour boat was in trouble out in the bay during a storm, and Moiré went out to assist. When the boat seemed about to go down, Moiré, in desperation, prayed for help from the Fae, whom she had read about at school. A bolt of lightning struck the waves near her, and Moiré suddenly found the seas calmed before her eyes. Her muscles felt harder, and all tiredness and cold fell from her limbs. Moiré helped save the about, but told none of her part in it.
Over the next few years, Moiré honed her skills under the guise of working as a volunteer with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. She adopted a name for herself, "Gaisgeach", meaning "spear-woman", and became one of the Fae's chosen champions on Earth. By the time she was 21, her fame had grown to world renown, but Moiré guarded her secret identity with furious energy. This did not prevent her from befriending a young Germania during a battle with pirates, or from forming a brief but passionate romance with American hero Pryvid. It was from this love that Duncan Gunn, AKA "Dealanach", was born when Moiré was just 23, without Pryvid's knowledge.
In 2008, not long after her son's 7th birthday, Moiré disappeared during an attempted rescue of a foundering passenger liner off the coast of Newfoundland. For 11 years Gaisgeach was gone from the face of the Earth. Now she's back as a fully-fledged BoS Agent, and those 11 lost years haven't dimmed her passion for lifesaving, or her legendary personality. While semi-retired, she still lends a hand in training new recruits and in emergency situations.
Personality:
Moiré is a born warrior - fierce, protective, and stern. She is slow to trust, and her traumatic experiences have left her enraged at those she feels failed both her and her loved ones. Her strong opinions have been known to cause friction with colleagues, and she struggles with socialising. For all that, she remains a compassionate and tolerant soul at heart, with a deeply ingrained sense of fairness. Those who would cross her should, however, be wary - like the sea itself, Moiré takes no prisoners once her wrath is earned.
