Ok, took me a bit to get all these done but as I said on Cynder’s piece I wanna share the Ideas I had in making them. Sit tight cuz there is a lot. :)
One thing I thought would be cool is if the dragon races were more “magic styles” than actual genetics. The Peace Keepers would be a group of dragon elders responsible for “sorting” the young into fields that match their talents.
-Artisans: Deals with practicality. Dragons here focus on material craft more than anything else. Brewing potions, sculpting/carving artifacts, and herbal remedies/medicines are just a fraction of possibilities.
-Magic Crafters: Deals with the arcane. Dragons here revel in the unknown. They often dig deep into the ancient arts, learning runes, and glyphs. Dragons have always had a unique connection to gems but this is especially true for Magic Crafters.
-Dream Weavers: Deals with the psyche. Dragons here can be anywhere from fortune tellers to those skilled in manipulating dreams and purging (or causing) nightmares. Psychiatrists and yoga gurus also aren’t that far off.
-Beast Makers: Deals with resurrections and summoning. Dragons here are often skilled in plant manipulation, beast keeping, or golem creation. With enough effort, a Beast Maker can breathe life into almost anything. Altho taboo, necromancy falls under this magic style as well.
I’m picturing a sort of Donkey Kong 64 type of game where the player would switch between Spyro, Cynder, Ember, and Flame to accomplish different things. Because you’d have 4 playable characters it makes no sense that they would have multiple elements/breaths. It would overcomplicate a lot so it’s more they each have one breath with multiple uses.
I also like the idea that as a dragon learns their craft/magic they gain abilities other dragons don’t have naturally.
I’ll break things down individually below.
SPYRO (Artisan) & SPARKS (the dragonfly) Health states: yellow -> orange -> red -> gone -> 🕱
Breath: Fairy Fire
Breath uses:
-Damage enemies
-Burn obstacles and barriers
-Light fireworks/bombs
Greatest Stat: Breath Damage/size
Spyro’s breath deals the most damage and spreads the furthest.
Unique Ability: Can pick up lava bombs and spit them from his mouth.
CYNDER (Magic Crafter) & POWDER (the moth) Health states: lavender -> white -> magenta -> gone -> 🕱
Breath: Arcane Lightning
Breath uses:
-Damage enemies
-Charge mechanisms
-Activate runes and glyphs (light up areas, teleport, dispel dark magic, etc)
Greatest Stat: Jump/glide
Cynder’s wings are the largest so she can jump the highest. That also means she has the longest glide.
Unique Ability: Can pick up, push, or break dark crystals without getting hurt.
EMBER (Dream Weaver) & GLITTER (the ladybug) Health states: cream -> powder blue -> rose -> gone -> 🕱
Breath: Magic Bubble
Breath uses:
-Put enemies to sleep (when they pop on them)
-Make select surfaces slippery (make ramps slippery to go extra far, like supercharge?)
-Float objects (mostly for puzzles)
Greatest Stat: Charge/grip
Ember has the fastest and strongest charge. She’s even able to charge up curved surfaces that the others would lose their balance on.
Unique Ability: Can maintain control and even belly slide on slick surfaces.
FLAME (Beast Maker) & GROUT (the rhino beetle) Health states: orange -> lavender -> scarlet -> gone -> 🕱
Breath: Hot Sludge
Breath uses:
-Glue enemies and select objects in place (machinery or other moving parts/objects)
-Create temporary usable platforms (think like an ice breath on water)
-Make certain plants grow at a rapid pace, creating climbable surfaces or crossable bridges.
Greatest Stat: Wing Shield/deflect
Flame’s wings are incredibly durable and capable of not only blocking heavy attacks but also bouncing attacks back at enemies.
Unique Ability: Can swim in acid without getting hurt.
Ideas for each realm and character personalities:
---PEACE KEEPERS
Just like in the og series the peace keepers realm is a hot dry dangerous canyon but this time it's not a war zone/base. This is the realm where dragon eggs are taken because they need intense heat to hatch. (This could be the reason for so many fire-themed names despite not every dragon having fire breath?) Maybe it gets attacked a lot because Spyro villains seem to always want dragon eggs for one reason or another? This way it keeps a little of its “war” theme.
When a dragon egg hatches they are cared for until they are sorted based on what the peacekeepers believe would be the best type of magic for them. Then they are handed off to the elders of whichever realm they were assigned.
---ARTISANS
The Artisans realm is filled with lush green grassy meadows and intricate statues and castles. There is a focus on invention and engineering here. These dragons are builders so I would imagine this realm being the most technologically experimental. Perhaps sprinkle some steampunk and alchemy themes throughout the castles, tho with a more whimsical twist.
Maybe the game starts off with Spyro as villains kidnap artisan dragons to force them to build for them? This could be the inciting incident.

A big smelly swamp with stretches of sticky mud and toxic pools. The practice of beast-making came to be as a way to combat the various deadly creatures and carnivorous plants. Beast makers have bent nature to their will so these dragons have a reputation for being strong-willed and stubborn.
As Flame was such a hollow character originally (being a red Spyro clone) I thought it would be cool to give him a style and personality that juxtaposes Spyro’s. In the LOS series, Spyro’s personality was that of a hero cinnamon roll. He was kinda bland honestly. I think I actually prefer the bratty and overconfident attitude he started with. Kinda makes me think of a stereotypical New Yorker in temperament XD. Sort of like a city boy type. So what if Flame was a bit of a doofy southern/Indiana Jones type? I bet these two would constantly butt heads and challenge one another.
---MAGIC CRAFTERS
Dark, stormy, icy, and cold the magic crafter’s realm can seem uninviting to outsiders for which the infamously antisocial magic crafters are thankful. This realm consists of vast cave systems and temples that stretch across and even through the icy peaks. The atmosphere is buzzing with magic from all the crystals growing here. The inhabitants cope well with the cold through the use of various enchantments and powerful gems. They have a practically never-ending supply of gems in the crystal mines that seem to regenerate quicker than it’s depleted. (Dante’s Freezer and Concurrent Skies both are cold and stormy so I imagine this type of environment just fits really well for Cynder.)
Cynder has spent years searching for a cure to her curse. A curse she’s had ever since she was a whelpling. While her pursuits have been fruitless thus far at least now she has a deeper understanding of both how to inflict and dispel the most common forms of dark magic. Persistent insomnia due to the curse giving her nightmares has also granted plenty of time to study while the others sleep peacefully.
---DREAM WEAVERS
The floating islands that make up the dream weaver’s realm appears appropriately dream-like. With tall lush green fields, whimsical castles, and even clouds that can be walked on, it’s no wonder why this is the fairy’s favorite realm. When night falls, however, it’s up to the elders to keep the inhabitants safe. The night brings an ominous black fog. It's the elder’s duty to keep the lanterns and lighthouses lit. Without their light, the darkness burdens those swallowed by it with the worst of nightmares/illusions.
Ember I imagine as an A++ pupil when it comes to learning magic. Because of this she sees herself as a princess and expects others to treat her like one. In all the games she’s been in she has always been a persistent love interest of mainly Spyro but at one point a… armadillo? What about adding some spice and have her crushing on Cynder this time? Always good to get some queer rep and the difference in style with one being so literally bubbly and pink while the other is dark and brooding, it just strikes me as cute. I also like the idea of Ember staying awake at night to keep Cynder’s nightmares away while she sleeps.
