Some of my coloring book "test drive" ambitions can get a little carried away... I expanded this image from 8.5x11 inches to 14x17 inches and printed it, because I wanted to really play with all the background detail.
The color contrasts are more stark than usual. I wanted this to read as *distinctly red* and *distinctly green*, with a subdued-color but highly detailed background. It reads a little bit like Norse knotwork, though the abstract elements in the background are looping calligraphic designs (and a third dragon).
The color work you see here is entirely Prismacolor Premier pencils. There's a bloodstone cabochon between the dragons' hands.
Though there was a watercolor underpainting, you cannot see any of it at this point. I used it to guide my colors, and some of the watercolor-and-salt patterning shows through in an interesting mottled texture that shows through when viewed closely.
