Or maybe...Some rocks have crystal-like structure, and the handle could just "fine tune it" as it makes a blade out of it...Also Ice comes in crystal structure so if the handle can form the blade, and enforce it to be able to act as an ice blade/normal blade, then it can also be used in artic/snowy places/at wintertime. Lot's of possibility with this concept. Nice.
