Thank you so kindly for the complements.. as I indicated in my post of this, there was much frustration.. and I still see a lot that I forgot to "fix" ... I imagine we all have those moments.. Such a complex character or scene leaves so much to try to keep in mind... and... well... my "kung fu" still needs a fair bit of work.

Well frustration is something that happens to a lot of artist, including me ^^, but as you said "if I'm not frustrated it must be that I'm not learning!" that's totally true :P
and you will see more artwork from me ^^, summer vacations are coming here, so I have more free time, I'm working on my reference sheet, and some art-trades :D

A formal character sheet is something I should do... I look at how beautiful some artists make them... Seems like it will be the biggest challenge of all, to do it... and do it well. I may try...

I re-uploaded my submission, and hope that it is NOT to be frownd upon for doing so.. but my background was so hurridly done, that I wasnt happy with it being on my page.. without any regard to the contest... which I hope will not be adversely effected-- My submission is my submission... i hope the judging is over, since its been 2 days now since it was said it'd be announced.. I waited in hopes that their decision would be made already.

Alas.. I look much forward to your work.. You really do have an excellent handle on coloring and composition.. and I'd love to chat more with you!

Glad you like my pics, I'm still very noob on this ^^, I love colouring, but I should practice more with anatomy, and poses, and that. About chat.. I'm sorry :C my english is REALLY bad xD(I speak spanish), I can't chat.. I tryed with other guys, but I can't, but that doesn't mean we can't talk in any way, you can send me 'notes', or email, I'll always reply them!!!!!

Sadly I've been drawing for longer..really about 10 years now, but always on and off.. you know.. go through a period of 2 or 4 months of drawing a lot, then stop drawing for a year or more....so it seems I never do it long enough to get good at it... and worse, for me its not, as they say, "like riding a bicycle"--- I forget and get out of practice if I do not keep drawing. Its somehow embarrassing for me that I look at the age of many artists here and I am old enough to be their mom! :P

Dont worry about the language barrier, I must say your written english is fantastic... but I can understand, having tried to speak another language, myself, how difficult speaking is over typing it. Email or notes back and forth here are fine.

Hmmmm... yes.... the contest... I am very curious whats up with that .. its 4 days now beyond when she said she would announce... been very quiet. So I wonder whats up... Makes me wonder if she's stuck with some part of it... Either a tie in judging.. or people she was hoping would judge that havent yet... But I am eager to know as well XD If I were to guess, I'd put you at #1 .. possibly myself as #2 or #3 behind syntax() ... syntax drew both characters.. and did a pretty good job of it too... so I would say that probably holds some weight. Everyone looked at archon, including myself and said "Whoh! feathers... furr... loooong body... complex! ouch! ..." XD

anyway..... hope we find out soon! So I stop clicking on Archir's page every hour!

Its quite a pleasure to talk to you. and I hope what remains of school for this year is going well. Being from north of the equator of course I find it rather difficult to wrap my mind around the idea of "summer" and "December" in the same sentence

You might still need some practice with backgrounds (though you already chose something not so easy to draw), but the dragon looks just magnificent!

This almost didnt get done...................... well......... it would have been, but not in time for the contest IF i had decided to devote sufficient time... who knows, perhaps I should re-work it anyway "just because I can".

I KNOW my background was litterally thrown down on the page, but then it kinda had to be.. I wasnt sure when the deadline was to have it done by... being sick didnt help with my timeline here.
Not trying to make any excuse... because I admit the bacground is shit.. but I didnt spare any time for it. :( When I entered the contest I even admitted I wasnt sure I would finish... for me, this thing happened amazingly fast... (I am guessing around 18 hours).

Anyway... yeah.. the clouds dont look "cloudy" enough" .. the mountains in the back dont look 'distant' enough ... Things were even f*ed up more when I talked to aerofox, who looked at it for me and he said he could hardly make anything out on his monitor. Even still.. this is now the second time I have put something up that was to most people too dark, and I have had to resubmit and brighten it up ... in this case now it looks too blue to me, but didnt when it was darker. I dunno.. Honestly I'm rather dissappointed with it.. but then I at least finished it enough to submit it.. which surprised me...

The background is not shitty! I said you needed to practice them more, but that doesn't make this one a bad one. The dragon looks just better than the background, o.k?
Don't be disappointed with this piece, it looks really great! You should be proud of it. :)
And the monitor-thingie ... don't worry about that, I usually have the same problem ... ^^;

I am sorry if I reacted somewhat strongly... I didnt mean for it to seem like perhaps your comment had swayed any judgement from me about my own work.. Really I was dissapointed in how the background came out.. but I really didnt feel i could devote time then to fix it.

Your comment confirmed my feelings and perhaps amplified my frustrations.. but this was no fault of yours.. I appreciate beyond words your help.. your comments and critique.. I need this because its the only way I will improve..

and I revisited it.. and while I probably would have prefered to completely redo everything of the background.. I at least improved it, I _think_.. *smile*

I don't know what you changed since I don't have the first version in my mind anymore. But as long as you think you improved it, I'm sure you have. :)

I think if I were to just have time, at least i would be over the block that i was experiencing a month or so ago... but now I've got to get some projects done and I have a deadline to meet, and ... its no fun, even though its supposed to be for fun.

Also, about FCN, I'm not even sure where it is that convention? Is that the one in Detroit, MI or Atlanta, GA? Either way, I'm not going to any of these locations since of the unstopped rise in fuel prices and all the things I need to afford right now. Actually, I'm not even sure if I'll make it to Anthrocon, or to any other conventions this year...

I should be completely done with my school in a maximum of 3 weeks and right after that I'm going to afford a private course to get the very last paper I need to have all the qualifications to drive a train anywhere in Canada. There is a new company which will start to operate a new passenger service this Spring and they might hire me to do the maintenance on the locomotives at first and then later in Autumn, I could start driving the Winter rail shuttle. I sure hope they'll call me back in April! Anyway, it's not the only opportunity that will be available to me if I don't get that one. I can't wait to drive a real big train again! A loco-tractor is nice but it's not the same...
