Um... I don't think that would work since Pan is a rabbit and due to that fact, his body is covered in fur so he would have a much higher body temperature than his elven friend.
Also, the lips held against the forehead would be far better since our lips have more nerve bundles in them as well as the very fact that Pan's face would be completely safe from any risks of being used as a tissue.
But he is right when he told Pan that he could have used his paws to check his temperature.
