Here Fox and Link: the forest buddies, along with another guest character: Hunter from the Road Rovers!
One pleasant morning, Fox walks happily around the woods, until he reaches the end of it, and just before he turns around to continue walking, a young golden retriever mix named Hunter shows up and greets to his passing neighbor.
Hunter: Hello, young fox!
Fox: Umm...hello?
Hunter: Name's Hunter! What's yours?
Fox: Are you sure if it's okay that I say my name to someone that does not belong in this big enchanted forest like this?
Hunter: Why doubting yourself? I'm not going to attack you, I'm friendly, you can trust in me if you want.
Fox: Well...
But just before he decides, Link shows up, and when he notices a dog standing next to him, he quickly runs toward him and start attacking, thinking he was about to wound his best friend!
Link: Hey!! Stay away from my dear friend, you stinking mutt!
Fortunately, being agile and fast, he dodges his attack: Hunter: Whoa! Whoa! Calm down, buddy, everything's okay!
Link: Yeah, like I'm gonna fell for that!
Worried for his agressive attitude, he talks to him:
Fox: Calm down, Link, he's right, nothing's wrong, everything's okay.
Link: How can you say that?! Can't you see he's a dog? He can hunt you down like others.
Fox: Well, yeah but...
Then, Hunter clarifies to his thoughts to prove he's not bad like other dogs:
Hunter: You're Link, right? Listen, Link, I know what you're thinking, and you're right, dogs like us are used to hunt down foxes...but you must understand that I'm not like one of them, I'm peaceful, friendly, loyal and friendly, I wouldn't dare to hurt such a poor and young fox like him.
Link: But you must also understand that you don't belong in these forests, you belong in those human villages like those over there.
Hunter: I know, it's the truth, but sometimes, dogs also have rights to take visit here, right? If you trust in me, I'll swear to our lord, I'll never betray you, I'll always respect you whatever happens, and if I ever break my promise, I'll promise to punish myself and stay away from this: very beautiful, sacred and very magical forest like these.
He thinks for a moment, and after listening to his heart, he accepts his vow:
Link: Very well, sir Hunter, me and Fox will trust in you, but you must not forget the promise you made to us, ok?
Hunter: Very well, dude! Will do! Now, what should we do today?
Fox: Why don't we all play baseball?
Both: Ok! Let's play!
And so, Fox, Link and their new friend Hunter goes to play baseball, and so Hunter learn about the truth behind the inside and outside world between mankind and the animals, with the purpose to someday, find a solution to solve the conflict between, until then, he made sure he'll never broke his promise he made for them.
