Rows of beds once occupied by residents of the school, left as if they had gotten up in a hurry and were still in class.

As best as I can tell, around the 70's or so. People are used to seeing the crumble from ceilings and walls covering the floors and such, but that sort of decay hasn't happened here. It's still powered, and as far as I can tell, somewhat temperature maintained.

In many film noirs, there's a scene where the hero, having been shot in the back by a platinum blonde temptress, wakes up in a hospital ward that looks just like this. Hard to imagine what it must have been like to sleep here.

In black and white, you don't get the color differentiation that would say whether this is a room for sleeping like a dorm for a children's school or or perhaps the recovery room for, say, a civil war hospital.
