A very nondescript monster of Lovecraftian lore. The ghast, a cannibal beast of roughly humanoid shape gigantic and misshapen. A thick back and sloped head with no discernible prominent brow just deep set eyes and a mouth. No nose and harsh features. Mine is hairy and filthy. This will be the current representation of it although I will undoubtedly do more.
For a better idea read the Dream Quest of Unkown Kadath, probably one of H. P. Lovecraft's most enjoyable works. I will now have to fix this current mistake by making the actual Gug which has four paws connected at the elbows and a vertical mouth of fangs and protruding eyes..

Hahah, most people don't give enough appreciation to his numerous other works which I feel many are far better than Call of Cthulu. Don't get me wrong, good story but Rats in the Walls, the Lurking Fear, and the Shadow over Innsmouth are all easily more engaging and well written.
They're worth a look into. Doesn't surprise me a bit, it's difficult to actually find books that were written by him and not collections of fan pieces thrown together. He mainly worked on short stories hardly any reaching novel length. So in that regard they are an easy read.
But... the gug was actually very extensively described... O.o
"It was a paw, fully two feet and a half across, and equipped with formidable talons. After it came another paw, and after that a great black-furred arm to which both of the paws were attached by short forearms. Then two pink eyes shone, and the head of the awakened gug sentry, large as a barrel, wabbled into view. The eyes jutted two inches from each side, shaded by bony protuberances overgrown with coarse hairs. But the head was chiefly terrible because of the mouth. That mouth had great yellow fangs and ran from the top to the bottom of the head, opening vertically instead of horizontally."
