If you remember Akura, the cosmic being, this would be everything that represents the darkness that resides within her. She was on Earth taking a vacation with most of her abilities locked away so she doesn't accidentally use it, and cause some sort of religious chaos of the sort. Anyways she was enjoying her time until she was knocked out unconscious and taken to some sort of ritual cult of sorts. Unfortunately, these people not knowing what they were really doing, somehow having tapped into her locked powers, managed to rip the darkness that was within her, creating some sort of dark being of sorts. In an instant, everyone died at the hands of this new being, naming herself Aku after seeing a movie poster to some sort of Japanese movie with the title of the same name, liking the ring to it. On she went to cause chaos around Earth, leaving behind Akura unconscious until much later, realizing what happened and goes after her.
