I'm not trying to look cool, wearin' all that black - I wear it 'cause biking in November, even in Tucson, is cold. Hypothermic shivering is unsafe, if yer riding a responsive lil' scoot in dense traffic. Stay warm, out there!

Why do I keep hearing the song "Good Thing" by Fine Young Cannibals?

Be aware that denim is not protective when you're riding. In a slide, it averages 4-5' before it shreds. That's right, about 48" to 60". To stay warm on a scoot, there are three places you want to insulate first. Your head, your hands and your feet. The helmet looks pretty good, and the leather jacket is good and I hope the gloves are leather as well. The boots look good and will be warm with a good pair of wool socks. When the winter rainy season arrives, use a decent water-proofer on them. Sno-Seal is one brand that works. After that, just layer up as needed. You're from cold country, you know what you need. You might want to think about some sort of scarf (or something) to go around your neck if you're feeling the cold that much.
Hopefully you won't get any storms like the one at Christmas a couple years ago while I was visiting family near Tucson. It rained in the morning and that changed to snow in the evening. The freeway was just plain nasty! I had driven over to Yuma to meet up with a long-time friend and driving home was worrisome. I know how to drive in snow, but not many people in Tucson do. Thankfully the freeway traffic was light. I'm glad I was in a car for that trip.
My scooter is just a trifle larger than yours, enough so that it's comfortable out on the freeway. And I bought my riding gear before I became unemployed, so I could actually afford it. I really love to ride. I'm hoping to ride down there for my next visit, which will probably be Christmas 2011. If we both have the time maybe we could meet up. I'd love to meet the Tucson Mob, and maybe go pop off a few rounds.
