Bill's Teleporter: Brigette (3/3)

Brigette slid the Nav back onto the table and waddled towards the entrance, feeling less like an Altaria and more like a Torchic on her buckling legs. Out of the way of the tables and equipment, she stretched her arms and neck as they extended even further from her center of mass. Already, her limbs had disappeared beneath the white feathers painting themselves across her midsection. Her tail feathers curled and touched the floor. Even in this awkward half-human form, she felt... majestic.
Lowering her arms, she felt the feathers cling to the air. She felt so powerful, but the villa felt stuffy, confined. She wanted to break down the front door with a Dragon Pulse and soar above the Cape, but she knew that she had to wait for Lanette. She sat down on the floor, cushioning herself and curling her neck into her feathers. Bill was curled up with his fellow Eevee in an appropriately sized Pokémon bed.
She daydreamed about how she would live as an Altaria. The reality of the situation still hadn't fully hit her. She now truly saw herself in her mind as a Pokémon. The self-image was still fuzzy, but she could no longer fit it into a human-sized hole. What she hadn't worked out was how this would effect her life, her relationships.
For a moment, she thought about flying up onto a mountain and nesting there like a real Dragon Pokémon, and dismissed the idea out of hand. Then she reconsidered. Lanette lives in the valley between Meteor Falls and Mt. Chimney. The heights around the cabin would be a great place for nesting. She never considered herself the type to settle down and have kids, but a nest of Swablu? She trilled softly.
In the other room, Bill's ears pricked up. He and the other Eevee got out of bed and ran for the door, sniffing curiously. On queue, the door creaked open. Brigette dreamily lifted her head and turned towards the door. There was Lanette, staring back in disbelief.
"Brigette?"
Brigette replied with a powerful, elated call, something between the song of a bird and the shriek of a dragon. She stood as tall as her legs would allow and spread her wings. Lanette gawked for a moment.
Then she ran at Brigette and tackled her, laughing. Seeing the joy in her older sister's new voice and face set her mind at ease, and as Brigette in turn felt a head nestle into her bosom and a warm pair of arms close around her middle, she knew she had made the right choice.
The sisters bade farewell to Bill, and with Lanette on her back, Brigette finally got the chance to spread her wings and lift off into the sky. They glided out over the ocean, then took an tour of the Kanto metro, flying above the skyscrapers of Saffron City side-by-side with Pidgeots and Fearows. Then they went above Mt. Moon and skimmed a lake filled with Gyarados and Dragonair.
At the crack of dawn the next morning, Lanette mailed their luggage to the port in Vermilion before hopping onto Brigette's back. She hugged her sister tight as they rose towards the Southern wind current that would take them back to Hoenn while the sun rose over the cape.
