I loved working on this one! Painting shadows and lights on these wedding outfits was surprisingly pleasant and relaxing.
I experimented a bit with the BG as well - I love painterly backgrounds and I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate these within my artworks. ;D

I think part of it is that it needs to be illuminated to look real, and paint can't really capture that translucent glow. Digital art comes close, since the screen's illuminated, but it's like trying to paint a portrait of a celestial being. When I tried it I was using acrylic on canvas, and it just didn't work at all. Same thing with a rainbow I painted in a picture of Kaua'i. It looks OK, but it doesn't look "real."
