Perhaps I'm projecting, but the loss of her previous life and the sudden transition from respected and beloved Captain to "be one of us or die" native would not be something I could deal with well.

Perhaps it's a mark of her strength as a character that she can take that kind of ultimatum and deal with the transition as best she can until answers present themselves.

I'm really digging how you have hte males as a, if you'll excuse the term for english doesn't have a word better to describe it, "feminine" role of the culture.

That's a downright amazing beach scene, though. I actually thought about the orbital geometry for a moment before I realised you'd got the reflected light spot on. Very nice indeed.

Works for me. Most males in most species have the sense of fashion. You can't argue with a male bird of paradise.

I can assure you that many males in some human societies have lost that vital function. =P I had to learn from my mom and sisters what works and what doesn't.

I do better now, but sometimes I can't help but ask for their approval if I'm unsure...

I know humans have. Males are almost required to completely defer to females at this point. Women have a sense of spotting good fashion. They know a good looking man. But this comic has no humans in it.

I concede the point. Different races might have different skills for each gender.

Hell, different sociaties sometimes have different skills for their genders. =P We could probably find some group in the world where the men have an excellent sense of fashion, whether or not theirs is better than the women's...

I always found the penis gourd to be rather stylish. The size of it had nothing to do with anything in their culture. While looking for that one I also found a picture of a white man wearing a curved one and had more color in his markings.

Indeed, the transitions work really nicely here. The last panel really establishes what she's feeling, too. Wonderfully done! One can only ponder what the Nautica's crew is doing in her sudden absence.

There was only one word I could understand on that page... sex.

Interestingly enough, where the men on this island are the lesser, "sex" translates to "him".

Hm... that's a creative way to translate words we know into something completely new.
