a girl i know, she loves to grow,
and does so every day.
with head held high and eyes aglow,
she rises up away.


inch by inch and foot by foot,
a lust so rarely pleased.
her joyous laughter serves to put
her audience at ease.


taller than the door by now --
no, taller than a tree.
the cutesy furrow of her brow,
ah, what a sight to see.


"oh my," she often says out loud,
"just how much will suffice?
i could reach up and touch the clouds --
now wouldn't that be nice?"


although she's never gone so far,
it's clear she'd like to try.
perhaps one day, she'll reach the stars,
and swim within the sky.


i can't imagine how it feels,
that slow and steady climb.
(but it must hold a fair appeal,
because she takes her time.)
