MLP is not a series I’ve seen much of. I saw a few episodes of what I think was G1 when I was a little kid, and the first two or three episodes of G4, along with a decent number of clips of it. While I’m not the biggest fan, I can definitely appreciate a series full of cute and loveable characters. Spike’s definitely one of my favorites; I love the snarky comic relief sidekick role, especially from an adorable little dragon. I still love how his knight fantasy wasn’t too far off from what he actually ended up looking like as an adult. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t someone this good looking.
There’s surprisingly little of Spike in a trance, young or adult. I still don’t get why; he’s cute, loveable, and he’s been around for how many years?
Hopefully this helps change that!
Spike flew through the clouds, lugging a trophy behind him with a grin. Dragon’s Charades Champion 10 years running! Just two more years, and he’d set a new record! Heck, he already had if that theory about the last guy being a really bored Changeling was true! He usually ignored “so-and-so’s been replaced by a Changeling!” theories, even before they’d changed, but given that no one had seen that dragon before the tournaments, outside of them, or anywhere after tournament number 12, you really had to wonder.
Spike squinted as an airship came into view. Was that…?
He flew closer, and sure enough, he could see Capper leaning against a rail, a suitcase in each hand and a pair of sunglasses on his face as he chatted up a familiar-looking Diamond Dog. It felt like ages since the species had made piece; Capper had been a huge help negotiating. He had to admit, he’d never thought Rover would willingly get along with Abyssinians… or anyone other than his friends. Who would’ve thought he had it in him?
“So, we have a deal? A handful of gems for that lovely collar?” Capper purred.
“Yessssss… Massssster can have Pet’sssss collar…” Rover hissed, spirals swirling in his eyes as he handed over a large metal collar.
Capper smiled as he put the promised gems in Rover’s jacket, a scaly tail slipping from a suitcase to stroke the dog’s back. “Wonderful! I’m so glad we met; we really must keep in touch. Master would certainly appreciate it!”
Rover shuddered in bliss, drool dripping from a dopey smile. “Pet will keep in touch!”
Capper raised an eyebrow as the Diamond Dog staggered off, tail still wagging behind him. “He does know his name isn’t Pet, right?”
“Who knowsssss? Everyone reactssssss differently,” a voice quietly hissed from the suitcase. “He sssshould probably be fine. Worsssst comesssss to worssssst, hissssss friendssssss will probably sssssmack him out of it.”
Capper sighed, slipping the collar into the other suitcase. “And just when he’d gotten so much more pleasant. Oh well, you can’t win them all.”
“Hey, Capper!”
Capper jumped, whirling around to find himself face to face with a large purple dragon. “Oh, hello Spike! Wonderful to see you. I take it by the trophy you’ve won another charades tournament?”
Spike beamed. “Yep! I’m getting close to the record for most wins in a row! How’s life in Abyssinia? Cats and dogs still getting along?”
The cat chuckled. “I’m happy to say they still are. Really, point out a desert full of bones, offer help in finding gems, learn to put up with a lot, and I mean a LOT, and the next thing you know, they’re your best friends. I was just having a lovely chat with one named Rover. He wasn’t the nicest at first, but turn on the charm, and he gets so agreeable!”
Spike could swear he heard snickering as he raised an eyebrow. “Really? The last time me or the girls saw him, he and his friends had kidnapped Rarity and tried to force her to mine gems for them. I mean, he wouldn’t be the worst person I’ve seen change for the better, but that’s still pretty surprising. Good for him!”
Capper blinked. “Okay, didn’t know that. Probably a good thing, I would’ve been a whole lot less friendly if I had known. I swear, y’all got the craziest lives I’ve ever heard of, and that ain’t even counting Discord.”
Spike snickered. “Yeah, sorry about last time. It was pretty funny seeing you meowing and running around on all fours, wearing your coat like a turban, though.”
Capper groaned. “That’s what I was doing for hours? The girls told me I was juggling yarn…”
Spike cheerfully replied. “Oh, you did that too. Impressive, by the way. I never got the hang of that.”
Capper buried his face in his hands. The sound of snickering could be heard from his suitcase, which he promptly dropped. The sound came to an abrupt halt, but not abrupt enough; Spike was already giving it a concerned look.
“Is there someone in there?” he asked.
Capper grinned sheepishly. “Maybe that’s a conversation we can have when the airship’s landed? I don’t want to give the captain a reason to throw me overboard while we’re still airborne.”
As soon as the ship landed, Capper pulled Spike aside, glancing around to make sure there was no one else there. He quickly opened the suitcase, Spike yelping at the sight of the giant snake within.
The snake awkwardly waved his tail. “Hello there!”
Spike yelped again. “You can talk?!”
“…I’m ssssstarting to get the disssstinct impressssssion that issssssn’t conssssssidered normal.” Kaa replied with a flat look.
“…So, are you part of some snake civilization I’ve never heard of, or…” Spike trailed off awkwardly.
Capper took that as his cue to jump in. “Spike, let me introduce you to Kaa. He’s a bit unique, if the talking wasn’t a giveaway. This fine fellow’s been trying to get to Griffonstone, but it seems he slipped onto the wrong flight. Naturally, he has nowhere to stay, and the next flight there isn’t available until tomorrow. I’ve tried finding a place to stay, but every hotel seems to be booked, which leaves us both out on the streets. I don’t suppose you know anywhere?”
Spike raised an eyebrow. “Wait, you’re out on the streets? Where were you planning to stay?”
Capper sighed. “I wasn’t. This was the only flight to Equestria available that arrived before Rarity’s birthday. I’d spent an hour trying to get a reservation, and even more on the flight, but alas, it seems there’s no room.”
Spike smiled. “Hey, no problem! You can stay in the guest room, and Fluttershy’s always got room-“
Kaa coughed. “Er, perhapsssss I could sssstay with Capper? I’m rather out of my element here…”
The dragon shrugged. “Sure thing! We’ve got plenty of room for the two of you! …Wait, it is just two of you, right? You don’t have anyone else in that other suitcase?”
Capper chuckled. “Nah, just some stuff I picked up on the way here. That’s including Rarity’s present, so please don’t peek. I’d like to keep it a surprise.”
Spike gave a cheerful reply. “Hey, no problem! Come on, I’ll show you around!”
Spike headed off, Kaa and Capper trailing behind with the same eager grin…
“…And here’s the guest room!” Spike announced. “…Uh, you okay, Capper?”
“I’ll be fine,” the cat panted, leaning against the door. “Just not used to that much walking at once. And here I thought I was in fairly good shape…”
Spike grinned sheepishly. “Yeah, sorry. I keep forgetting how big this place is when you’re not used to it. The tour of the entire castle probably wasn’t a great idea. …Especially when you’re carrying luggage.”
“Not to worry,” Capper managed to get out as he shut the door behind him. “I’ll just be enjoying that lovely bed in a few minutes…”
“We really mussssst thank you for your generosssssity. Essssspeccssssially towardsssss a ssssstranger,” Kaa smiled. The snake had stayed in the suitcase until they’d met Twilight. The resulting announcement about the giant snake being a guest had gotten some interesting looks from the guards.
Spike shrugged. “Hey, any friend of Capper’s is a friend of mine. Anything you need, I can help with!”
Kaa chuckled. “Ssssso ssssssweet. Care for a ssssstaring contesssst? After sssssseeing that trophy, I’d love to know what elssssse you can do.”
The dragon grinned. “You’re on! I have to warn you though, I’ve gotten pretty good at these.”
Kaa smirked. “Trussssst me. Ssssso have I…”
Spike’s jaw dropped as the snake’s eyes swirled with colors brighter and more beautiful than any gem. Ring after rainbow ring raced past his eyes, vibrant swirls sweeping up-
Spike wrenched his eyes away, slamming them shut. “NOPE! Only so long you can deal with illusions, mind control, and Discord before you start catching on! Weirdly colored eyes are never a good thing!”
Kaa blinked. This was… unexpected. First Capper, then Spike. What was going on in these creature’s lives?
Spike made a blind dash for the door, only to trip over a suitcase. Capper took the chance to tackle the dragon, struggling desperately to keep him down.
Given the sheer size difference, it was not going well.
“Get off me- EW! Did you just lick my eye?!” Spike shrieked, rubbing his eyes as Capper gagged, attempting to wipe off his tongue with the edge of his coat. The dragon opened his eyes-
And was greeted by swirling colors.
Spike’s jaw fell slack as the spirals filled his sight. Every color was so pretty, sparkling and shining like the tastiest of gems, but no gem could compare to this. He knew he should look away, but it was hard to think of why; the rainbow rings were so relaxing, somehow soothing and tingly and exciting all at once as they swept through his thoughts. Kaa bobbed his head, and Spike bobbed his; the snake swayed to and fro, and Spike swayed with him. A motion, and Spike was swinging his hips with a smile, slit pupils shrinking to pinpricks as he followed Kaa across the room. He barely noticed as Capper dropped from his back; all there was, all that mattered, was the snake and his colors.
The snake’s tail crept up his body, tracing the dragon’s muscles as it wrapped around him in rings. Spike shuddered in bliss, his tongue flopping from his mouth as the snake’s body slid against his scales. Soon enough, he was coiled, his wings out behind him, and then the real pleasure started. Coil after coil pressed against the dragon, squeezing and stroking as he practically melted into the coils. The spiral-eyed dragon let out moan after moan, happily panting as his tail wagged behind him. Spike had never felt so happy, so relaxed in his life. Cuddled and massaged with so many colors, a scaly tail scratching him behind the ear (or the closest he had to one), not a thought in his head but how gooooood it all felt, Spike was in heaven, and he never wanted it to end.
“That’sssss better,” Kaa snickered. “How do you feel about the colorssss now?”
“Spike want…” Spike managed to moan.
Kaa chuckled. “And Sssssspike getssssss. You’re ssssssuch a good boy, ssssssuch a ssssssweetheart. You’re jussssssst sssssssso eager to pleasssssse your sssssscaly guessssssst, and for that, you get a reward. Let your guesssst take care of you. You don’t have to think or choosssse; I’ll bear thossssse burdenssss sssso you can relaxsssss. All you need concsssssern yourssssself with are my needssssss. Food, conversssssation, protection, play… anything I want, you’ll happily provide. I’ll be your massssster, and you my beloved pet, ssssserving with a sssssmile and a head full of colorsssss.”
Drool dripping from a dopey smile, tail wagging at warp speeds, eyes spiraling madly as he happily panted, Spike had never agreed faster. “Of course! I’ll do anything for Master! Anything you need, I’ll get it! I don’t need to think or choose; I just need to be Master’s pet!”
A quick tug on the neck, and with a PING!, Spike broke into the goofiest grin that had ever crossed his face.
Kaa cooed as he stroked his dragon’s cheek, Spike mindlessly leaning into his master’s touch. Spike had been harder to hypnotize than he’d thought, but he was well worth the effort. Soft scales, big and snuggly, so many muscles that just melted away beneath his coils… Spike had it all. The personality and access to cute friends were just the icing on the cake.
Capper clapped in approval. “Well done, Master! I didn’t think he could still be this adorable after he grew up.”
“It’ssssss amazing what sssssome hypnossssissss can acomplisssssh,” Kaa smirked. “Any other of your friendssssss that are thissss resilient?”
“Not that I know of. Spike was as much a surprise to me as he was to you,” Capper said with a shrug. “Apparently, Discord’s powers are more well-known than I thought.”
“It sssseemssss I’ll have to pay him a vissssit…” Kaa grumbled. “That anti-magic collar may be needed ssssssooner than we thought.’
Capper stretched out on the bed, taking off his sunglasses to reveal a pair of swirling eyes. “In the meantime, perhaps you could hypnotize me? I could use the rest.”
Kaa smirked. “With pleasssssure…”
The snake uncoiled his latest pet, beckoning him closer as he slithered to the bed. Spike grabbed the cat’s shoulders, Kaa pressed his face to Capper’s, and the Abyssinian’s world became a blissful haze of rainbows, moaning, and massages.
Sometimes, life was just good.
