Commentary for August 11, 2022:

This last page was a real challenge to write. I was having a lot of trouble figuring out how to finish the chapter, and began by writing a whole dialogue scene between Sonic and Tails, since that was how the 2018 version ended. But I couldn’t figure out how to do it and it started to run on too long. But then, I had a sudden epiphany. I didn’t need a protracted dialogue scene between Sonic and Tails, because this chapter was never about them. Kari-Ya was the protagonist of this chapter, whereas Sonic was the antagonist. So there simply was no need to cut to Sonic surprising Tails with the Tornado and make a whole scene of it. A single large panel showing them flying together again was all I needed. A picture says a thousand words, after all.

Anyway, that’s this chapter done. Chapter 42 will begin tomorrow.
