I feel like all our modern (pop)culture does is always regugitation the same old tropes and clichees, to the point where it is self parody. There is too little creativity, too little innovation. Maybe it is because people are not willing to take risks anymore. It is a shame and I feel like our civilisation peaked some 20-40 years ago.
I just get the feeling that a lot of the writers they higher have a high opinion of themselves and a low opinion of the material they've been hired to write.
It would be nice if they paid people that actually liked fantasy to write again, but those people are probably making more money writing actual novels.
