I've never understood people whose immediate reaction to a perfectly harmless and even pretty insect or reptile is: "ewww! kill it!"
I can watch a beetle crawl along on its way, a snake gracefully winding through the grass, and a spider spinning a perfect web without ever feeling threatened or creepy. They're just doing their thing.

Same here. I have never been afraid of bugs. Or snakes. I get quite close to bees and wasps in order to take photos of them and they have never stung me. I think it is probably partially a cultural thing and also I know a lot of folks who have genuine phobias.
